I found a doll at a thrift store. Turns out she was the Disney take on Rapunzel’s mom. She is supposed to be the “villain”, white skin and very coily black hair. Her entire character is of the jealous, narcissistic mom that was envious of Rapunzle’s long, straight blonde hair. So, the doll’s hair had been neglected (she also has high pointy cheek bones, a frown, and vicious jealous side eye). Disney did this girl wrong. I’ve never bought a doll with textured hair second-hand. I want to keep the black hair and the texture, but it was made to look “un-pretty”. Tons of hair, made to poof out, but the tight coils are actually well done. Thank you for the tips…after her hair is looking right I’m going to try to soften up her makeup. This poor doll was done wrong, and the contrast of the pale skin and textured hair is going to make for a display-worthy, original looking doll. Thank you! Edit:Look up “Used Mother Gothel 1st edition with messed up hair”. It was probably prettier out of the box, but didn’t take long to turn her hair into something you’d pull out of a shower drain. That’s the real scandal.

This is something I've encountered too, to some extent, which is why I tend to create spaces for my doll collection downstairs in my home office, where casual visitors won't ask so many questions. But speaking of questions 😊 May I ask about your two Asian male dolls (they're standing to either side of the Korean lady at 15:40): the man in the white robe with his arms crossed in front of him, and the older gentleman with the topknot and facial hair? I've never seen these before. Are they available in the U.S. at all? They're so expressive, I love them.

I for one was delighted that he had the same skintone as Jon. It was a major selling point for me, in fact. The Jons as a whole had a bad case of wonky-face, and a worse case of soulless eyes if they weren't misprinted (similar to the dull, lifeless eyes that the curvy in this wave has). Unless you could inspect in-person or were willing to accept a bad face, it rendered them unbuyable. But these new Kens have no prevailing misprint issues! In addition to the buff body, it makes them much better than the Jons. Honestly, a few of the gals in the new wave (the blonde and the petite, mainly) have pretty bad wonky-face that is also keeping me from buying. Might have to get that redhead, though!

I have 21,24,and 25. I am so loving the Simone sculpt. She is a ravishing beauty. I almost didn't want her at first. Then I took a closer look and decided to buy her. I named her "Aïda" after the Verdi opera. I haven't named the other 2 yet. It's harder to name my 25 than the other Looks men doll. Number 20 is giving me "Scooby-Doo" vibes. As for my 21,I'm giving myself some extra time to name the perfect name.

The first Simone released is one of my fav barbies EVER so when they released this new one I was so excited! Shes also gorgeous. I also picked up the petite one and am excited for her too.

Great picks! Ive been gravitating to Simone to start with, and she reminds me of Niki Minaj. And also BMR 1959 purple bantu knots, orane top and skirt, strangely reminds me of Teyonna Taylor. What do you think? They are all great!
